Are you truly a NFL fan? Even if it means giving up a stadium?

Found this article in the sports section today . . .

California county has surprised both the San Francisco 49ers and city of Santa Clara leaders by pulling $30 million in tax funds from the new 49ers stadium.Santa Clara County officials told the Mercury News ( bit.ly/OaqIBz) Saturday that they would rather spend the money on teachers.
The team and the city said voters had specifically earmarked redevelopment money to help build the $1.2 billion stadium and that the county has no right to keep it.

Well,  I really love football, but I would rather the money be spent on teachers who do not make anywhere near enough money for putting up with some of what they do!
Football is great-don't get me wrong--but we gotta have priorities---our society can be kind of backwards when it comes to paying players millions while the teachers guiding our children only make around---oh, IDK, $30-40 thousand a year???!!!?

Would love to hear what you think! Any comments ? ? ? !! ? ? ?!1

I STILL BELIEVE IN THE DOLPHINS!

Other news in the NFL  . . . .The Miami Dolphins have extended linebacker Cameron Wake's contract through the 2016 season. Wake had one year and $650,000 left on his previous deal. ESPN is reporting the extension is worth $49 million, with $20 million guaranteed.

Analysis: Wake has 28 sacks and four forced fumbles with Miami after coming to the Dolphins from the Canadian Football League, where he was a two-time defensive player of the year. GOOD CALL MIAMI! MAKE IT HAPPEN THIS YEAR---I STILL BELIEVE IN THE DOLPHINS!

Redskins say Griffin already starting QB
(AP Photo/Manuel Balce Ceneta)
ASHBURN, Va. (AP) No sense fooling around with a talent like Robert Griffin III. Barely a week after the draft, the Washington Redskins are already proclaiming the Heisman Trophy winner their No. 1 quarterback.
Saying that Griffin has the ability to do things no one else has done in the NFL, coach Mike Shanahan wrapped up a rookie minicamp Sunday by putting RGIII squarely atop the depth chart.
"He's the starter. Period," Shanahan said.

Head Trauma and Suicide??!!??

Hey fellow football fans---
So sad to hear about Junior Seau . . . . I hate that this is happening. It does seem that there is a connection between head injuries and suicide-even though there is no medical evidence yet.  I read an article and this is by no means the first incident where a past athlete who has suffered head trauma has then committed suicide. I know it's not proven yet or anything, but it sure does seem a little more than coincidental. I pray for the families of those who have lost loved ones to suicide. There did not seem to be any rhyme or reason to Seau's suicide. His family is going to donate his brain to research on the study of the correlation between head injury and suicide. I pray that there is an answer soon and more measures are taken to help players get better information and protection.
Let me know your thoughts--would love to have a conversation with anyone who has knowledge  about this situation. And I pray that anyone dealing with this gets the help they need. God Bless, Jennifer

Draft picks and hope for the Dolphins??!?!!!?!

Lots of draft picks going on--and here are the headlines . . . . . . . .

I am pretty sure you can click on these links to read more about it! Let me know if it works--

I found a fellow Miami Dolphin fan yesterday--it was exciting to have someone else be hopeful for the Dolphins---Maybe this will be their year--maybe they will just surprise everyone!!!??!?!!? Never lose hope and pray for God to bless them this season just in case:)  It could happen . . . LOL!
Anyway,  hope everyone is doing well and it's nice that the draft is going on--so there is not so much negativity in the world of football!

Tim Tebow is booed at NY Yankees game?!?!!!?

Hey all-- I'm not sure how anyone can boo Tim Tebow, but that's what happened when he went to a Yankees game. Hey! New Yorkers--he hasn't even played yet and he's only a back-up--what's the point of booing? I'm sure he had a great attitude and just said a prayer for those fans:)-- that would be just like him. Anyway, saw a headline that Peyton Manning is starting off-season work-outs with the Broncos--not too much else going on in the world of NFL news except--- Drew Brees and some other Saints' players were at a meeting today discussing the bounty program and some other issues. Goodell is supposed to punish the players soon who were involved in the bounty scandal. It's such a shame . . . The article also said that Brees and Fujita are both with the Cleveland Browns now--didn't know that! What do you think of the bounty game? Would love to hear some thoughts and comments:)! Have a great night--Jennifer

The Saints and the consequences of their actions . . .

Headlines say that Goodell upholds the penalties for all the Saints who were involved in the bounty game! Payton and the others lost their appeal for a lesser punishment!
To talk about how you feel about this is kind of tricky--to not judge, but yet state your opinion on what happens . . . Well, here goes--I am glad Goodell stuck to the original punishment. I think that what they did was despicable! And anytime you do something despicable, you should receive the appropriate consequences. I know I have received consequences for doing things I look back at now and see how awful they were. Sometimes we don't receive the consequences right away and sometimes it may seem that we don't experience them at all, but it really is only a matter of time.
The timeless principle of reaping what you sow was created by God and it cannot be explained away or changed by any man.

The suspension of Payton will hopefully speak loud and clear to any other coach that may have thought about doing the same thing or is doing the same thing but has not been caught yet. I think it's important that these men who have power and money learn the lesson that they are not untouchable. That they can't just treat people that way and get away with it! They are not valuing human life and they needed the wake up call!
Maybe I am being preachy, maybe I am coming across judgmental, I don't mean to be--I just want to speak up for what is right! This world has so much relativism that people forget there is right and wrong and that whether they believe it or not--they will eventually reap what they sow

Let me know what you think please--disagree, agree, agree but think the punishment is too harsh . . .any thoughts are welcome:)
Be kind to one another!

Always something . . .

Well, it seems as though there is always something going on in the NFL today. First, the Saints' and all that goes with that--appeals, punishments, etc. still in the news and now, the list of players filing lawsuits for past concussion injuries gets longer and longer. What in the world is going on? It's really kind of sad and takes away from the love of the game! I am not sure of how I feel about the NFL not doing enough to inform the players about the dangers in the past or today. Maybe, maybe not--but doesn't common sense kind of tell them that it's dangerous? I mean football is very aggressive by its nature to the point of violence. Is the same thing happening in boxing? because that's even worse to me--there is no protective equipment whatsoever.
Our culture is so desensitized to violence--people forget how violent these sports are--it's the mentality of needing more and more action, violence -blood and guts and gore, and destruction to the point where it is never enough. Does anyone agree? Would love to hear your thoughts and comments--

To end on a more happy note--I read this headline about Michael Phelps this mornin--at last something positive in the sports world---

The Baltimore native slashed more than four seconds off his season-best time Friday and held off a late charge form Tyler Clary to win his second race in two days at the Indianapolis Grand Prix. Beside, could he really disappoint mom?
Have a great day and God Bless-
Jennifer
