Are you truly a NFL fan? Even if it means giving up a stadium?

Found this article in the sports section today . . .

California county has surprised both the San Francisco 49ers and city of Santa Clara leaders by pulling $30 million in tax funds from the new 49ers stadium.Santa Clara County officials told the Mercury News ( bit.ly/OaqIBz) Saturday that they would rather spend the money on teachers.
The team and the city said voters had specifically earmarked redevelopment money to help build the $1.2 billion stadium and that the county has no right to keep it.

Well,  I really love football, but I would rather the money be spent on teachers who do not make anywhere near enough money for putting up with some of what they do!
Football is great-don't get me wrong--but we gotta have priorities---our society can be kind of backwards when it comes to paying players millions while the teachers guiding our children only make around---oh, IDK, $30-40 thousand a year???!!!?

Would love to hear what you think! Any comments ? ? ? !! ? ? ?!1

I STILL BELIEVE IN THE DOLPHINS!

Other news in the NFL  . . . .The Miami Dolphins have extended linebacker Cameron Wake's contract through the 2016 season. Wake had one year and $650,000 left on his previous deal. ESPN is reporting the extension is worth $49 million, with $20 million guaranteed.

Analysis: Wake has 28 sacks and four forced fumbles with Miami after coming to the Dolphins from the Canadian Football League, where he was a two-time defensive player of the year. GOOD CALL MIAMI! MAKE IT HAPPEN THIS YEAR---I STILL BELIEVE IN THE DOLPHINS!

Also,
Redskins say Griffin already starting QB
(AP Photo/Manuel Balce Ceneta)
ASHBURN, Va. (AP) No sense fooling around with a talent like Robert Griffin III. Barely a week after the draft, the Washington Redskins are already proclaiming the Heisman Trophy winner their No. 1 quarterback.
Saying that Griffin has the ability to do things no one else has done in the NFL, coach Mike Shanahan wrapped up a rookie minicamp Sunday by putting RGIII squarely atop the depth chart.
"He's the starter. Period," Shanahan said.

Head Trauma and Suicide??!!??

Hey fellow football fans---
So sad to hear about Junior Seau . . . . I hate that this is happening. It does seem that there is a connection between head injuries and suicide-even though there is no medical evidence yet.  I read an article and this is by no means the first incident where a past athlete who has suffered head trauma has then committed suicide. I know it's not proven yet or anything, but it sure does seem a little more than coincidental. I pray for the families of those who have lost loved ones to suicide. There did not seem to be any rhyme or reason to Seau's suicide. His family is going to donate his brain to research on the study of the correlation between head injury and suicide. I pray that there is an answer soon and more measures are taken to help players get better information and protection.
Let me know your thoughts--would love to have a conversation with anyone who has knowledge  about this situation. And I pray that anyone dealing with this gets the help they need. God Bless, Jennifer

Draft picks and hope for the Dolphins??!?!!!?!

Lots of draft picks going on--and here are the headlines . . . . . . . .

I am pretty sure you can click on these links to read more about it! Let me know if it works--

I found a fellow Miami Dolphin fan yesterday--it was exciting to have someone else be hopeful for the Dolphins---Maybe this will be their year--maybe they will just surprise everyone!!!??!?!!? Never lose hope and pray for God to bless them this season just in case:)  It could happen . . . LOL!
Anyway,  hope everyone is doing well and it's nice that the draft is going on--so there is not so much negativity in the world of football!

Tim Tebow is booed at NY Yankees game?!?!!!?

Hey all-- I'm not sure how anyone can boo Tim Tebow, but that's what happened when he went to a Yankees game. Hey! New Yorkers--he hasn't even played yet and he's only a back-up--what's the point of booing? I'm sure he had a great attitude and just said a prayer for those fans:)-- that would be just like him. Anyway, saw a headline that Peyton Manning is starting off-season work-outs with the Broncos--not too much else going on in the world of NFL news except--- Drew Brees and some other Saints' players were at a meeting today discussing the bounty program and some other issues. Goodell is supposed to punish the players soon who were involved in the bounty scandal. It's such a shame . . . The article also said that Brees and Fujita are both with the Cleveland Browns now--didn't know that! What do you think of the bounty game? Would love to hear some thoughts and comments:)! Have a great night--Jennifer

The Saints and the consequences of their actions . . .

Headlines say that Goodell upholds the penalties for all the Saints who were involved in the bounty game! Payton and the others lost their appeal for a lesser punishment!
To talk about how you feel about this is kind of tricky--to not judge, but yet state your opinion on what happens . . . Well, here goes--I am glad Goodell stuck to the original punishment. I think that what they did was despicable! And anytime you do something despicable, you should receive the appropriate consequences. I know I have received consequences for doing things I look back at now and see how awful they were. Sometimes we don't receive the consequences right away and sometimes it may seem that we don't experience them at all, but it really is only a matter of time.
The timeless principle of reaping what you sow was created by God and it cannot be explained away or changed by any man.

The suspension of Payton will hopefully speak loud and clear to any other coach that may have thought about doing the same thing or is doing the same thing but has not been caught yet. I think it's important that these men who have power and money learn the lesson that they are not untouchable. That they can't just treat people that way and get away with it! They are not valuing human life and they needed the wake up call!
Maybe I am being preachy, maybe I am coming across judgmental, I don't mean to be--I just want to speak up for what is right! This world has so much relativism that people forget there is right and wrong and that whether they believe it or not--they will eventually reap what they sow

Let me know what you think please--disagree, agree, agree but think the punishment is too harsh . . .any thoughts are welcome:)
Be kind to one another!

Always something . . .

Well, it seems as though there is always something going on in the NFL today. First, the Saints' and all that goes with that--appeals, punishments, etc. still in the news and now, the list of players filing lawsuits for past concussion injuries gets longer and longer. What in the world is going on? It's really kind of sad and takes away from the love of the game! I am not sure of how I feel about the NFL not doing enough to inform the players about the dangers in the past or today. Maybe, maybe not--but doesn't common sense kind of tell them that it's dangerous? I mean football is very aggressive by its nature to the point of violence. Is the same thing happening in boxing? because that's even worse to me--there is no protective equipment whatsoever.
Our culture is so desensitized to violence--people forget how violent these sports are--it's the mentality of needing more and more action, violence -blood and guts and gore, and destruction to the point where it is never enough. Does anyone agree? Would love to hear your thoughts and comments--

To end on a more happy note--I read this headline about Michael Phelps this mornin--at last something positive in the sports world---

The Baltimore native slashed more than four seconds off his season-best time Friday and held off a late charge form Tyler Clary to win his second race in two days at the Indianapolis Grand Prix. Beside, could he really disappoint mom?
Have a great day and God Bless-

What Now?!!???

So, Manning goes to Denver and they send Tebow to New York!?!?!? Maybe it's the female in me --but that just makes no sense--lol! Tebow will be a back-up quarterback and I don't understand why he went there--if anyone knows please explain it:)

I am also not sure why Manning picked Denver--was is money or what? Let me know out there what you know--lol!

Ok and the other big news---Sean Payton and the Saints--WOW! I am pleased and surprised--I was hoping they would all receive just consequences, but I never imagined they would actually do it! I guess I thought that they would just be fined. I mean, I am not saying I am glad they got punished--it's just that to make money off of hurting other players on purpose was just so despicable to me--I felt they needed to definitely have consequences that made them see that! It's so sad to me that you love to watch the great game of football and root for your team and have fun and behind the scenes they are doing this horrible stuff--I don't know, I guess I am naive, but it really is disappointing. So the thing is I want this behavior to stop and it seems like the consequences are fitting to the crime, so that hopefully no other teams start this or if there are others doing it also--they will stop now! That is what I meant by being 'pleased'!
Would love to hear your thoughts and comments--do you agree or disagree?

Tebowmania:)

Good Morning to all--
Just read a headline that said "Tebow took news of Manning deal with class"! That does not surprise me at all. Tim Tebow is a man of God, integrity, and joy. He is a class act! He has the Holy Spirit living inside him and exudes that to the world! We can all learn a lesson from his obedience and attitude. He definitely inspires me to be a better person in the name of the Lord!
Not much time to write this morning--but would love to hear your comments:)!
Have a blessed day!

I am so sad:(!

It's a sad day for me today-- just read a headline that said "Dolphins out of Manning chase"--LOL! I was really hoping he would go to Miami and give the Dolphins a way to turn around their long stretch of losing seasons. Oh well, maybe the other guy will do it for them. I don't really know who Matt Flynn is but I guess I better find out-:) Anyway, let me hear your thoughts! Would love to know what you think about the whole Manning thing-- and if there are any Dolphin Fans out there?

Hope everyone is doing well today! Here in South Carolina we are having record high temperatures--I am soooo not used to the heat-lol!

Would also love to hear about how you found my site and if there is anyone who saw the John 3:16 link--let me know:)
Thanks and God Bless, Jennifer

It's been a week??? !!?

Wow, I can't believe it's been a week since I posted last. Worked 72 hours last week so it was tough to get any posts in. So, I guess the big news is how the Colts let Manning go! He is a free agent now and not sure where he is going . . . He is on a tour of teams even as I blog this! I would love it if he went to Miami!!!!-he is headed there after he meets with the Cardinals. Maybe Miami would finally have a winning season??!!!? But even with all his talent and experience, Manning's future isn't necessarily secure; his neck issues are ever looming over him-after all that is the main reason the Colts' coach let him go. How many of us are in that position these days? With the economy the way it is, I am sure there are many out there who are not sure of their future; even with talent and education these days --things are not secure. Nothing in this world is really secure. Ever wonder how you can feel secure? Is there anything that you can feel secure about? If you ever want to know the answer (and yes, there is something you can be sure of)there is another blog of mine that you can visit--jennifersjeremiah2911.blogspot.com
Hope you all check it out!
Take care-Jennifer

Making money on hurting players on purpose???!!!

Just read a new headline that I wanted to post about. The New Orleans Saints cited for really inexcusable behavior--here is what the article said:
"New Orleans Saints players and at least one assistant coach maintained a bounty pool of up to $50,000 the last three seasons to reward game-ending injuries inflicted on opposing players, including Brett Favre and Kurt Warner, the NFL said Friday. "Knockouts" were worth $1,500 and "cart-offs" $1,000, with payments doubled or tripled for the playoffs.
The NFL said the pool amounts reached their height in 2009, the year the Saints won the Super Bowl.
The league said between 22 and 27 defensive players were involved in the program and that it was administered by defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, with the knowledge of coach Sean Payton.
Williams apologized for his role, saying: "It was a terrible mistake, and we knew it was wrong while we were doing it."
No punishments have been handed out, but they could include suspension, fines and loss of draft picks. The NFL said the findings were corroborated by multiple, independent sources, during an investigation by the league's security department.
Players contributed cash to the pool, at times large amounts, and in some cases the money pledged was directed against a specific person, the NFL said."
So, they were making money off hurting players to get them out of the game! OMGosh!

This was really disconcerting to me. Because I love the game so much-it really upsets me that this stuff goes on--I guess I am naive sometimes to think that this stuff doesn't, but it somehow still surprises me when I hear about it!
I had a thought after I found out about this that maybe I should become a college football fan-where this won't happen--or won't happen as much--BUT WAIT--then there's the whole thing at Penn State--These are the reasons the world needs God so much! I pray that these players and coaches receive the consequences they deserve. And I pray that God watches over us all!

What's New?

I guess Danica Patrick is who's in the news lately--- Never been a racing car fan (to put it nicely)--I guess I might be more prone to watch it as to root for a female racer--not that I'm a feminist-lol! It's just that I find racing really really boring so there would have to be something to peak my interest!!! Sorry, to all the racing fans out there--nothing personal--lol!
Boy, do I miss football!!!!:( Yes, I said it again-it's just that life is somewhat boring without it:)
Keep me posted on what keeps you going during this long season of meaningless other sports--lol:)
Just read a fairly exciting headline for baseball--it said that MLB will add a wild-card club to each league for playoff format--making it 10 teams now instead of 8! This is interesting to me cause I do like baseball:) I became a fan of the Braves when I was married. Used to think baseball was boring to watch too-lol--BUT once you have a team you like to root for (very important:)) and you understand the game more-that it's not just hitting and throwing the ball--it is definitely more fun to watch. Anyway, with these extra teams added--some of the underdogs will have more of a chance and I am always up for that!
Have a great week--God's Blessings to all:)

What's New?

Afternoon ya'll--
What's new in sports? Basketball, of course, March Madness coming in just days! Eehh--take it or leave it! Golf--boooorrrinng! Sorry, Pat:( My boss is a huge golf fan--haha! And Nascar's Daytona 500 -even more boring:)
This is what is in the news today--boy, do I miss football:( As I thought that to myself, I immediately had the thought of why is football not all year long? As a female, it took me a minute to answer that, but on my own, I did remember someone telling me once that it is such a physical game and too hard to sustain all year round. Anyone who can verify that for me or have any thoughts, please let me know!
Hope everyone is doing well and finding life fantastic! God Bless:) and please drop me a post or two or a hundred:)---LOL!

Peyton Manning in the most popular searches??!!!?

I saw today on my internet home page that Peyton Manning is listed under most popular searches. I haven't had time to search what that is about --so if anyone knows please fill me in. Been a very crazy week last week and I didn't post at all. My little dog, Angel almost died, there was a serious crisis with my oldest daughter, and then I got quite sick. But God is good and has been healing Angel little by little and myself. It will be a long recovery for my daughter, so if you're inclined to pray, I would be grateful.
Will write more on Wednesday:)
Take care everyone,
Jennifer

What Now?!!???

Did anyone see the headline about how they are going to make a Giants license plate before they make a license plate for 9/11? What is the world coming to? (It would seem that the heroes of 9/11 most definitely deserve a license plate before the Giants, but how did it happen that they're fighting about it over license plates?) And what about a headline that reads "Belichick wanted Giants to throw toward Manningham"? It seems as if they are finding any reason to keep the Superbowl alive. I guess everyone is having trouble letting go of the NFL football season in one way or another--lol! It's a long wait for next season already.
Let me hear your thoughts on what to blog about in absence of football!
Have a great night and in the words of Ellen "be kind to another"! Isn't that originally from the Bible?

Oh well--my team lost:(

I really thought the Patriots were gonna win after the first half was over. They had the lead for awhile in the third quarter and it seemed like they were gonna win it. But the Giants' really did play well-I do have to say!
So, I am disappointed cause my team loses and then the halftime show with Madonna was terrible I thought and then on top of that there was maybe about three good commercials and the only really memorable one for me was the Ferris Beuller one -that was great:)!
Oh, well!--So what's next now that the Superbowl is over?-Well, I'm still working on that! i will let you know when I figure it out--LOL! Meanwhile, keep an eye out for the Ferris Beuller commercial:)
Let me know-if you are Giants' fan and how your celebration was!

3 Days and Counting!

Hey everybody--
Only three more days til the big game! I am definitely rooting for the Patriots:) Who are you rooting for? I wonder who my Steeler fan friends are rooting for? I think it's going to be a great game! Going over to my friend's house- Paula and Paul-- for chili and cornbread -I know it will be a great time of fun and fellowship. If you're having a party, remember to invite a friend who is alone or may not have a party to go to --cause it's all about living life together.
Hope ya'll have a great weekend and a fun Superbowl Sunday!
Will be back Monday to post the results:)!

Not much going on . . .

Hi--
I talked to my pastor yesterday about my most recent blog and he told me the players are actually in meetings and such most of the day during this time off. Shows you what I know--Hey- I love football and understand the game, but I'm still such a girl-LOL!

Do women care about the pro bowl? I know I never really have. As much as I do love football-I've never really watched it because there is no team to root for and that is definitely part of the fun for me. Would love to know how you feel, ladies!
Hope to hear from ya
6 days and counting . . . Anyone having a Superbowl party--let me know what your plans are and remember to invite someone who is alone and needs a friend:)

Not much going on . . .

All is quiet in the western (or should I say "eastern") front! It is the calm before the storm and the dark before the morning:) I always wonder what the players do during this time off and if they feel like momentum is lost with all this time off?!!?? Or do they feel like they need this much time off to recuperate and regroup for the Superbowl??!! Let me know your thoughts . . .
Still wondering who to root for-probably will go with the Patriots--wish I felt better about rooting for the Giants. I did want to root for them:(-oh, well.
ANY THOUGHTS ARE WELCOME:)

Giants' questionable behavior!!!????!

Hey all--
Read in the news about how the Giants' players knew about Williams' status of multiple concussions and still purposely tried to get him out of the game. Not only did they know about it-they openly admitted to doing it! Now --I know you have to take everything you read in the news with the grain of salt, but they are openly admitting it! Not only is that reprehensible but it is stupid. These are role models for many young people and they don't seem to care. Our world today has been so desensitized to what's wrong and right-that people are thinking that there is not anything wrong with this behavior! I know it won't matter to the Giants' whatsoever if I root for them or not-but as a matter of principle-there is no way I can root for them now!--I wonder how true Giants' fans are looking at this? I need to talk to my niece and see what she thinks, but anyone else with such information would be welcome:)I am really curious how the public is looking at this! Let me hear any and all opinions-maybe I am off base?-maybe you can point out something I've missed--maybe you agree . . .

Finally picked the winning teams:)

Good Morning-ya'll
Well, I finally picked teams that won! The Patriots and the Giants--really great games yesterday, in case you didn't watch. They were both really defensive games-not high scoring, but good nonetheless. I know my niece is happy that her Giants won!-understatement of the week. She loves her Giants'! I do like Eli Manning though-he is a great quarterback and so is Tom Brady. Looking forward to the Superbowl-but now I am undecided who to root for cause I like both teams--lol. I will probably go with the Giants because of my niece:) Let me know if your going to a Superbowl party or hosting one!
Have a blessed day:)!

Did you see that facemask!????!!

Watching the Ravens and the Patriots and the Ravens just scored a touchdown-which was good as far as being in bounds -good call! BUT WHY IS NO ONE SAYING ANYTHING ABOUT SMITH GRABBING THE FACE MASK OF THE DEFENDER AND DRAGGING HIM--HE TOTALLY GOT AWAY WITH IT!--SO NOT FAIR!!!!!!!!!!! DID NO ONE SEE IT OR WHAT?!???!! Now they have recovered a fumble and have the momentum--Why did the Patriots' coach not ask for a review-how could the referee not see it when reviewing for the touchdown--OMGosh!
Guess I'm rooting for the Patriots--LOL!
I hope somebody eventually notices the face mask and says something-it's driving me crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hopefully the Patriots will still win-so there is JUSTICE!

What's coming up?

Baltimore at New England and Giants at San Fransisco --both games Sunday the 22nd! Ought be some good football!!!!!!!!!!
I have mixed feelings about the first game- I don't really like Baltimore-don't like their uniforms--lol and I do like the Patriots uniforms and Tom Brady's cute and they probably are the better team, but what about rooting for the underdog? Definitely torn! The other game--Well, I definitely want the Giants to win because I have never liked San Fransisco and well, like I said my favorite niece is a Giants' fan. So, how's that for picking 'em. So much for picking a team according to real issues like the guys--lol!
Anyway, somebody post a comment .........anybody?.....

Monday, January 16, 2012

Hey Girls-
Well, it happened again--the team I was rooting for lost:(-I guess I am not so great at picking the winning team-lol! But this time I didn't even pick the underdog-the Packers just played really really badly!!!Anyway, my niece that I adore is a Giants fan so I was happy for her:) Let me hear from you about who's your team and your picks if your team is not in the running!
Thinking maybe I will root for the Giants with my niece- I'm not sure yet so don't get your hopes up too high, Meg-love ya girl!
Keep hoping for the best in life-not just with your team!
Until next time,
Jennifer

January 15, 2012-First post!

Hey everyone-
Just starting this blog today--yeah! Long time Miami Dolphin fan (even though they sucked this year-lol) ! I grew up a Steeler fan with my Mom and Dad. My Dad was from Pittsburgh so we didn't have a choice back then. After the Steel Curtain years were over, I started liking the Dolphins because I loved their uniforms (the colors mostly--as I'm sure you noticed the color scheme of my blog - lol!) Then I actually grew to really love them during the Dan Marino reign. How I miss those days:( Still love them-- proverbially hopeful) I like other teams too! The two other teams I like the most both lost yesterday--oh well:( Anyway, I have to decide who I will root for next--not sure yet. Let me know who you like for the Superbowl and why. Have Fun!
